Question 1: Unstable measurement reading, value fluctuates greatly
Customer: After connecting the SF6 gas pipeline and starting the test, the dew point and micro‑water readings keep jumping and cannot stabilize. What causes this phenomenon?
Manufacturer: This problem frequently occurs in field site testing. Please follow the troubleshooting steps below: first, check the air tightness of the whole gas circuit; air leakage from joints will introduce ambient moisture and cause data drift; second, confirm that the sampling flow is adjusted to 0.6L/min, too high or too low flow will bring unstable readings; additionally, if the instrument has been stored in humid environment for a long time, the sensor needs sufficient dry‑gas purging for 10‑30 minutes before formal measurement. If above operations cannot solve the problem, please contact our technical support timely, do not disassemble internal sensor module by yourself.
Question 2: Test value is much higher than expected actual SF6 gas moisture
Customer: We measured the SF6 gas of GIS equipment, the measured micro‑water result is obviously higher than historical record. The gas inside equipment should be qualified. How to deal with it?
Manufacturer: This is mostly caused by residual moisture inside test pipeline. First of all, replace or fully dry the test line; the pipeline will absorb water vapor after long‑term exposure to air. Secondly, pre‑purge the connecting pipeline with sample SF6 gas before formal test to remove residual moisture. Besides, avoid operating under heavy‑dew or rainy outdoor environment, humid ambient atmosphere will affect sampling. If the deviation still exists, it is suggested to carry out instrument calibration.
Question 3: Touch screen no response / screen display abnormal
Customer: When we power on the HTWS‑V dew point meter, the screen lights up but touch function fails, or garbled characters appear on display interface.
Manufacturer: Please cut off AC power supply completely, wait for 2‑3 minutes, then restart the equipment. Low‑voltage power supply may lead to screen driving abnormality. If you use built‑in battery mode, check whether battery power is insufficient. Do not press the screen with sharp hard objects. Repeated failure means internal circuit fault, please stop operation and contact us, do not open the instrument shell.
Question 4: Battery cannot hold charge, short working time under portable mode
Customer: We use the built‑in lithium battery for field measurement. After full charging, the device can only work for a very short time.
Manufacturer: Long‑term idle storage without regular charging will reduce battery performance. Normally charge the instrument for 6‑8 hours to complete full charge. For long‑time storage, please recharge every 3 months. If the working duration is still too short after standard full‑charge cycle, the battery module may be aging, please contact us for replacement guidance. Do not replace lithium battery by yourself.
Question 5: Precautions for on‑site test, storage and daily maintenance
Customer: This dew point meter is often moved among different substations. What key points we should pay attention to during test, storage and transportation?
Manufacturer: Please comply with these requirements: First, the inlet gas pressure shall not exceed 1MPa, over‑pressure gas input will permanently damage the precision sensor; Second, avoid heavy shock and drop during transportation, sensor is precision vulnerable component; Third, store the instrument in dry ventilated place, keep away from rain and damp air; Fourth, after finishing field test, keep purging with dry gas for several minutes before storage, do not seal the instrument with humid gas remaining inside gas path; Fifth, recommend re‑calibration every 1‑2 years to guarantee measuring accuracy; operation must be completed by professional high‑voltage testing staff.
