With the development of power systems, the capacity of operating equipment continues to increase. Thermal power generating units now exceed 600 MW capacity, while hydropower generating units have reached maximum capacities of 700 MW. Additionally, equipment such as 110KV and 220kV SF6 combined electrical equipment (GIS), high voltage cables, and coupling capacitors require AC power frequency withstand voltage testing.
Traditional test equipment (power frequency test transformers) presents significant challenges for on-site testing due to their bulky size and large capacity requirements. Power frequency resonance devices offer substantial advantages in test power capacity, equipment weight, test waveform quality, and investment efficiency.
- Full compensation of resonant reactive power results in power supply and equipment requirements of less than 1/10 of the subject's required capacity (1/Q>10). Compact size and light weight with equivalent capacity, large output capacity, minimal power requirements, cost-effective, convenient, and safe operation.
- Series resonance functions as a current filtering circuit, ensuring the current passing through the subject is primarily fundamental current with minimal output voltage waveform distortion rate (THD), superior to all existing AC voltage withstand equipment.
- Short circuit current after sample flashover or breakdown is less than 1/10 (1/Q) of the pre-short circuit test current, effectively preventing expansion of damage to the fault point.
- Immediate automatic arc extinguishment after flashover. The steady-state resonant voltage restoration process occurs over seconds rather than microseconds/milliseconds, eliminating risks of voltage overshoot and restoring overvoltage.
