Product Description

on-load tap changer tester is used to test the switching state of the on-load tap changer. On-site staff can test the performance of on-load tap changers of various power transformers without disassembling the transformer and hoisting the switch, and display and print the waveform and parameters of the transition process.

FAQ

Question 1: Abnormal or fluctuating transition resistance test results during field measurement
Customer: When testing transformer on‑load tap‑changer on‑site, the measured transition resistance value keeps fluctuating and cannot get stable reading. What may cause this problem and how should I handle it?
Manufacturer: First, confirm the transformer has been fully power‑off and completed sufficient discharge; residual induced voltage will cause unstable resistance reading. Second, check all test clip contact points, remove paint, rust and oxide layer on tap‑changer terminal to ensure reliable metal‑to‑metal connection. Loose or poor contact will bring floating data. Third, keep test cables far away from high‑voltage busbars and power cables to avoid strong electromagnetic interference. Check whether test leads are damaged or internally broken. Re‑connect all terminals and perform retest. If data is still abnormal, please send us test waveform screenshot and site condition for further analysis, do not modify internal device parameters without technical guidance.
Question 2: No valid waveform displayed after tap position switching operation
Customer: I have finished wiring correctly and operated tap‑changer to complete gear switching, but the tester shows no effective switching waveform. Transformer is de‑energized. How to troubleshoot?
Manufacturer: Check whether signal test cables are connected to correct OLTC signal terminals, wrong terminal connection will lead to no waveform output. Confirm tap‑changer completes full switching action, partial or incomplete tap movement cannot trigger waveform collection. Check test leads for open‑circuit damage. Restart instrument and start new measurement cycle after tap‑changer returns to stable gear. If the issue persists, you can check hardware channel status in system menu and contact our technical support team.
Question 3: Built‑in thermal printer outputs blank paper or fails to print test report
Customer: Test data and waveform display normally on touch screen, but printer outputs blank sheet or does not feed paper when clicking print command.
Manufacturer: Open printer compartment and verify thermal paper installation direction. The thermal sensitive side must face the print head; reversed paper will print blank page. Clear paper scraps and foreign objects stuck inside printer slot. Make sure you save the complete test record before printing; unsaved temporary test data cannot trigger print task. Reboot tester and retry printing. If printer still malfunctions, please contact after‑sales service, do not disassemble printer module by yourself.
Question 4: Cannot export stored test data via USB flash drive
Customer: Hundreds of groups of OLTC test data have been saved in local memory. When I insert USB flash drive for data export, instrument cannot recognize USB storage device and export fails.
Manufacturer: This tester only supports FAT32 format USB flash disk. NTFS / exFAT format will not be recognized. It is recommended to use USB drive capacity ≤32GB; high‑capacity large‑size USB disks may cause compatibility failure. Make sure USB drive is fully inserted into USB port. You must complete saving test records before export operation, unfinished test records cannot be exported. Re‑format flash drive to FAT32 and try export again. If the problem still exists, provide system interface screenshot for our technical support.
Question 5: Mobile APP cannot connect with tester for remote control and data upload
Customer: I install the dedicated Android APP, but mobile phone cannot establish communication connection with OLTC tester.
Manufacturer: Confirm instrument Wi‑Fi hotspot function is enabled. Turn on Android device Wi‑Fi and connect to the hotspot signal transmitted by tester. Check whether mobile phone system version meets APP running requirement. Close other irrelevant Wi‑Fi connections on your mobile device. Restart both instrument and mobile APP, then rebuild connection. Please note this APP only supports Android system, iOS system is not compatible. If connection still fails, check device network setting and contact technical support.
Question 6: Low battery warning pops‑up when working with built‑in lithium‑battery mode
Customer: I use the internal lithium‑battery for field test without external AC power supply, the screen pops‑up low‑power warning and instrument shuts‑down automatically.
Manufacturer: The built‑in large‑capacity lithium battery needs full charge before outdoor field operation. Please complete full charging under AC power for about 6‑8 hours. Avoid long‑term full‑discharge storage which will damage battery life. If battery drains quickly after full charge, the battery cell may be aging, please contact after‑sales for battery replacement guidance. When available, use external AC power supply for long‑time continuous field testing.
Question 7: Shipping Method
Customer: If we place an order, how do you typically ship the goods? Will there be any issues with transporting bulky items such as reactors?
