Product Description

Portable Handheld Transformer Turns Ratio Tester TTR Tester for Power Transformer Ratio & Group Test

Product Description

During the production process of semi-finished and finished products of power transformers, before the newly installed transformer is put into operation and according to the preventive test procedures of the Ministry of Electric Power, it is required to test the turns ratio or voltage ratio of the running transformer, which can check the correctness of the transformer turns ratio, the condition of the tap changer, whether the transformer is short-circuited between turns, and whether the transformer can be operated in parallel. The readings of the traditional ratio bridge are not intuitive, and conversion is required, and only phase-by-phase measurements can be made. The ratio tester overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional ratio bridge test, is easy and intuitive to operate, uses a three-phase precision inverter power supply, and has fast testing and high accuracy.

Portable Handheld Transformer Turns Ratio Tester TTR Tester for Power Transformer Ratio & Group Test

FAQ

Question 1: What main functions can this portable transformer turns ratio tester realize?
Manufacturer: This portable TTR tester is designed for on‑site and factory inspection of power transformers. It can accurately measure transformer turns ratio, voltage ratio, phase group, polarity and tap‑changer position. By comparing measured ratio value with theoretical data, users can find winding short‑circuit, turn‑to‑turn short fault and winding connection errors. It supports both three‑phase and single‑phase transformers, covers Y, D, Yn winding connection modes. Equipped with color touch‑screen, built‑in data storage and USB export function, test reports can be saved and exported for file archiving. It is widely applied for transformer factory ex‑works test, substation acceptance test, routine preventive maintenance and fault troubleshooting.
Question 2: What causes large deviation between measured turns‑ratio value and theoretical nameplate data?
Manufacturer: Multiple field conditions may bring test deviation. First, check test cables and alligator clips. Ensure clips are firmly clamped on clean, non‑oxidized transformer terminals; rust, paint layer and loose contact will affect signal collection and cause inaccurate ratio reading. Second, confirm tap‑changer position is exactly consistent with nameplate tap setting; different tap positions correspond to different theoretical ratio values. Third, check transformer wiring mode selection on tester menu, wrong winding connection setting (Y/D/Yn) will directly produce wrong calculation result. Besides, residual magnetism inside transformer winding may interfere measurement, complete full discharge before testing. If deviation still exists after above checks, it may indicate internal winding defect, further comprehensive inspection is required. Never disassemble instrument without manufacturer approval.
Question 3: What safety precautions should be observed during on‑site transformer ratio testing?
Manufacturer: The transformer under test must be fully de‑energized and thoroughly discharged before connecting any test leads. Live transformer testing is strictly prohibited. Operators shall comply with high‑voltage site safety specifications and keep safe distance from high‑voltage terminals. Inspect test cables for insulation damage, crack or aging before connection. Do not connect or disconnect alligator clips when tester is running. Avoid laying test cables in parallel with high‑voltage power lines to reduce electromagnetic interference. For large‑capacity transformers, complete repeated measurement for cross‑verification to guarantee data credibility.
Question 4: How to troubleshoot unstable readings or failed measurement on site?
Manufacturer: Please follow step‑by‑step troubleshooting. Firstly, re‑inspect all test connections, remove oxide layer on transformer terminal surface and re‑clamp all clips to achieve good metal contact. Secondly, double‑check winding connection mode and tap position setting on tester interface to match actual transformer parameters. Thirdly, fully discharge transformer winding to eliminate residual magnetism influence. Fourthly, restart the instrument and run built‑in self‑diagnosis program to check hardware status. Keep test cables away from high‑voltage live equipment to lower electromagnetic noise. If measurement still cannot work normally after all operations, stop test immediately and contact manufacturer technical support.
Question 5: What are the requirements for daily operation, maintenance and calibration cycle of this portable TTR tester?
Manufacturer: Avoid violent impact, heavy extrusion and damp environment during transportation and usage. After field work, clean dirt and oxide residue from all alligator clip jaws. Do not pull or twist test cables by force. Store the whole set inside matched protective case under dry and ventilated condition. Back‑up important test data regularly via USB interface to prevent data loss. It is recommended to deliver the tester to qualified metrology institution for periodic calibration every 12 months. If the instrument frequently serves harsh outdoor substation sites, shorten calibration interval to 6 months. Complete full equipment self‑inspection including host and accessories before key acceptance test projects.
Question 6: If we place an order, how do you typically ship the goods? Will there be any issues with transporting bulky items such as reactors?
Manufacturer: We default to using dedicated logistics lines or brand-specific express shipping services; small-sized main units and accessories may also be shipped via standard courier services. Large items, such as reactors and excitation transformers, are packed using wooden crates or wooden frames for reinforcement to prevent bumps and moisture exposure during transit; a packing list is included with each package to facilitate item-by-item counting for you. Logistics costs are typically determined by both parties in accordance with the contract terms; after shipment, we will send you both the tracking number and the carrier's contact phone number for easy tracking. If your project site is remote or if delivery to the site is required with a specified logistics company, please inform us in advance when placing your order; we can then coordinate and arrange accordingly.
Question 7: Our project is under tight deadlines; how long will it take for the order to be shipped after we place it? Can we request expedited shipping?
Manufacturer: Standard specifications – stock available; typically delivered upon receipt of the order. Orders can be shipped within [X] working days; for non-standard products requiring customized voltage levels, capacities, or reactor combination configurations, the production cycle typically ranges from [X] to [Y] days. The delivery time will be approximately 7-15 working days; the specific timeline shall be subject to the sales confirmation provided upon order placement. If your project has a tight schedule, please inform us of the latest expected delivery date before placing your order; we will first verify the production schedule and inventory status, and where possible, will coordinate expedited production and prioritize shipment. However, it is recommended to allocate sufficient transit time for logistics to avoid delaying on-site testing.
Question 8: What is the warranty period for this equipment? If any issues arise during on-site use, how will your after-sales service respond?
Manufacturer: We provide a two-year free warranty on the entire unit and lifelong technical support services. During the warranty period, if issues arise due to defects in the equipment itself, we will provide free repair or replacement of components; when problems occur on-site, we commit to responding within 24 hours; most wiring and parameter configuration issues can be resolved through remote guidance via video or telephone; for cases where an on-site visit is necessary, we will arrange for our technicians to arrive at the location to resolve the issue. After the warranty period expires, we still offer repair services, with spare parts supplied at cost price for the long term, and software updates provided free of charge for life. Upon delivery of the equipment, we also offer free operational training (video operation guides)to ensure that your testing personnel can operate the equipment independently and proficiently; should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our dedicated after-sales hotline directly.
Question 9: Our projects are distributed across several states, and our procurement volumes are substantial; are the shipping methods consistent across all states? How is the delivery time calculated?
Manufacturer: The specifications are identical; however, it should be specifically noted that this equipment set is large in size and heavy in weight—components such as the reactor and excitation transformer are all classified as heavy components. Therefore, regardless of which state or region the shipment is destined for, we will uniformly utilize sea freight transportation. The packaging employs export-grade wooden crates with reinforced structures, along with moisture-proof and rust-proof treatments; the design of these wooden crates is optimized for long-distance sea transport and multiple lifting and transshipment operations. Upon arrival at the destination, simply unpack the goods and conduct an inspection before putting them into use. Regarding delivery time, the sea freight transit period depends on the port of destination: near-sea routes are generally faster, whereas ocean routes may take longer; the exact number of days will be confirmed based on the shipping schedule specified in the bill of lading. We have a dedicated freight forwarding agency to handle booking of shipping space, customs declaration, insurance, and other related procedures; once the vessel departs, we will send you documents such as the bill of lading and the packing list, enabling you to arrange for the receipt of goods at the port of destination and their inland transshipment in advance
