FAQ
Question 1: Test data deviation is large, measured impedance value differs greatly from transformer factory‑original data
Customer: We used this transformer short‑circuit impedance tester to perform winding diagnosis for an on‑site power transformer. The measured short‑circuit impedance value shows obvious deviation compared with the original factory test report data. What factors will cause this phenomenon and how should we handle it?
Manufacturer: Multiple field factors may lead to large test deviation. First, confirm the transformer is fully power‑off and complete static de‑energization, residual magnetism inside the transformer core will affect impedance measuring accuracy. Second, check whether all test clips have good metal‑to‑metal contact on transformer terminals; rust, paint and oxidation layer on bushing connectors will introduce extra contact resistance. Third, verify test wiring sequence strictly follows the wiring diagram printed on instrument case cover, wrong wiring will generate wrong reading. In addition, temperature difference between field environment and factory test condition also brings minor value drift. After finishing above checks, repeat the measurement. If deviation still cannot be eliminated, please send us your test records, do not modify internal hardware parameters without technical guidance.
Question 2: Instrument screen works normally but built‑in thermal printer fails to print test report
Customer: Our short‑circuit impedance tester touch screen displays test result correctly after measurement. However, when clicking print function, the printer does not output paper and no printing action is triggered. Where should we check?
Manufacturer: This fault is mostly related to printer paper installation and setting. Firstly open the printer compartment, confirm thermal paper roll is loaded in correct direction; wrong paper‑facing side will cause blank or no‑print phenomenon. Secondly check whether printer paper is stuck or jammed by paper scraps, clean residual paper fragments inside printer slot. Thirdly confirm you have saved valid completed test data before triggering print; empty data record cannot activate print task. Restart instrument after inspection and try print again. If printer still does not respond, contact our after‑sales team, do not pry open printer module by yourself.
Question 3: Instrument prompts abnormal current alarm immediately after starting field test
Customer: When we start short‑circuit impedance measurement on‑site, the tester pops‑up abnormal current alarm and stops test procedure right away. We have confirmed transformer has been cut off power supply. What are the possible causes?
Manufacturer: Even if transformer main power is disconnected, stray induced voltage in substation site may trigger current alarm. First double‑check all test cable connections, confirm no short‑circuit between different test terminals, and check test cables for breakage or insulation damage. Second, make sure transformer winding terminals are fully isolated, eliminate floating potential caused by nearby live equipment. Third check instrument input power supply, unstable AC220V power input may cause false alarm. Power off whole device, re‑connect all clips and cables tightly, then restart test. If alarm keeps appearing, stop operation and contact technical support.
Question 4: Test cannot be finished under low‑capacity small distribution transformer, measurement keeps aborting halfway
Customer: We test several small‑capacity distribution transformers. The measuring process will automatically interrupt halfway and cannot complete full short‑circuit impedance test, while large‑capacity transformer test works well. What is the problem?
Manufacturer: Small‑capacity transformers feature low impedance value, which puts higher requirement for connection status. First check that alligator clamps must achieve full tight contact on each terminal point, poor contact is the most common reason for test abortion for small transformers. Second avoid excessively long extension cables for test connection, extra cable impedance will interfere measurement loop. Please adopt original matched short test leads supplied together with instrument. Keep test leads away from high‑voltage live equipment to reduce electromagnetic disturbance. Re‑clamp every test point and restart measurement. If the issue remains, provide transformer capacity parameter and on‑site condition for our technical evaluation.
Question 5: RS232 data export fails, cannot transfer stored test records to external computer
Customer: We finished multiple groups of short‑circuit impedance test and saved data inside instrument. When we try to export stored test records to PC via RS232 interface, data transmission cannot work normally. How to troubleshoot?
Manufacturer: Please follow these steps for inspection. First check RS232 serial cable is original matching cable; ordinary self‑made serial line may have pin‑definition mismatch and cannot realize communication. Second confirm physical plug is fully inserted into instrument rear‑panel RS232 port, loose plug will break data link. Third verify computer serial port setting: baud rate, parity bit and data bit must be consistent with instrument system setting. Complete data export operation after you finish saving test record on touch‑screen, unfinished records cannot be exported. Re‑establish connection and retry data transmission. If export still fails, send us screenshots of system setting, do not open instrument shell.
Question 6: Shipping Method
Customer: If we place an order, how do you typically ship the goods? Will there be any issues with transporting bulky items such as reactors?
Manufacturer: We default to using dedicated logistics lines or brand-specific express shipping services; small-sized main units and accessories may also be shipped via standard courier services. Large items, such as reactors and excitation transformers, are packed using wooden crates or wooden frames for reinforcement to prevent bumps and moisture exposure during transit; a packing list is included with each package to facilitate item-by-item counting for you. Logistics costs are typically determined by both parties in accordance with the contract terms; after shipment, we will send you both the tracking number and the carrier's contact phone number for easy tracking. If your project site is remote or if delivery to the site is required with a specified logistics company, please inform us in advance when placing your order; we can then coordinate and arrange accordingly.
Question 7: Delivery Lead Time
Customer: Our project is under tight deadlines; how long will it take for the order to be shipped after we place it? Can we request expedited shipping?
Manufacturer: Standard specifications – stock available; typically delivered upon receipt of the order. Orders can be shipped within [X] working days; for non-standard products requiring customized voltage levels, capacities, or reactor combination configurations, the production cycle typically ranges from [X] to [Y] days. The delivery time will be approximately 7-15 working days; the specific timeline shall be subject to the sales confirmation provided upon order placement. If your project has a tight schedule, please inform us of the latest expected delivery date before placing your order; we will first verify the production schedule and inventory status, and where possible, will coordinate expedited production and prioritize shipment. However, it is recommended to allocate sufficient transit time for logistics to avoid delaying on-site testing.
Question 8: After-sales Service and Warranty
Customer: What is the warranty period for this equipment? If any issues arise during on-site use, how will your after-sales service respond?
Manufacturer: We provide a two-year free warranty on the entire unit and lifelong technical support services. During the warranty period, if issues arise due to defects in the equipment itself, we will provide free repair or replacement of components; when problems occur on-site, we commit to responding within 24 hours; most wiring and parameter configuration issues can be resolved through remote guidance via video or telephone; for cases where an on-site visit is necessary, we will arrange for our technicians to arrive at the location to resolve the issue. After the warranty period expires, we still offer repair services, with spare parts supplied at cost price for the long term, and software updates provided free of charge for life. Upon delivery of the equipment, we also offer free operational training (video operation guides)to ensure that your testing personnel can operate the equipment independently and proficiently; should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our dedicated after-sales hotline directly.
Question 9: Shipping methods for each region (Sea freight)
Customer: Our projects are distributed across several states, and our procurement volumes are substantial; are the shipping methods consistent across all states? How is the delivery time calculated?
Manufacturer: The specifications are identical; however, it should be specifically noted that this equipment set is large in size and heavy in weight—components such as the reactor and excitation transformer are all classified as heavy components. Therefore, regardless of which state or region the shipment is destined for, we will uniformly utilize sea freight transportation. The packaging employs export-grade wooden crates with reinforced structures, along with moisture-proof and rust-proof treatments; the design of these wooden crates is optimized for long-distance sea transport and multiple lifting and transshipment operations. Upon arrival at the destination, simply unpack the goods and conduct an inspection before putting them into use. Regarding delivery time, the sea freight transit period depends on the port of destination: near-sea routes are generally faster, whereas ocean routes may take longer; the exact number of days will be confirmed based on the shipping schedule specified in the bill of lading. We have a dedicated freight forwarding agency to handle booking of shipping space, customs declaration, insurance, and other related procedures; once the vessel departs, we will send you documents such as the bill of lading and the packing list, enabling you to arrange for the receipt of goods at the port of destination and their inland transshipment in advance
