Series Resonant AC Hipot Test Equipment for Condition Assessment of Aging Power Transformers in Utility
Series resonant systems are widely used in Electric Power, Oil, Chemical Industry, and other sectors for connecting and preventive testing of high-capacity, high-voltage capacitive equipment. The system consists of a control cabinet, excitation transformer, high voltage reactor, and high voltage divider. Control cabinets are available in two configurations: console type for systems over 20KW and portable case type for systems under 20KW, both comprising controller and filter components.
The primary function is to convert 380V or 200V fixed-amplitude, fixed-frequency sine wave AC power into adjustable amplitude and frequency sine waves, providing power for the entire system. The excitation transformer boosts the power source output voltage to appropriate test voltages, while the high voltage reactor serves as a critical component of the resonant loop.
This system is suitable for AC voltage withstand tests of 10KV, 35KV, 110KV, 220KV, and 500KV polyethylene cables; 60KV, 220KV, and 500KV GIS; large transformers and generators; transformer induced voltage withstand tests; and ground resistance measurements.
